A curriculum for deep knowing
From Plato to Nietzche, from Aristotle to Einstein, from the Bible to the Buddhist Sutras, at DRBU you will study philosophy, literature, science, art and math in an ambitious, one-of-a-kind curriculum that integrates the Great Books from Eastern and Western traditions that have shaped humankind’s thinking for millenia.
A unique learning methodology
At DRBU we don't do lectures. Teachers are not authorities, but guides. All of our classes are conducted through shared inquiry, a dialogical method where knowledge co-arises from the students' interactions with the text and each other, with professors acting as facilitators of the discussion.
A generous financial aid scheme
We run on the premise that cost should not be a limitation for our accepted students. Through a combination of service scholarship and grants, we attempt to cover all demonstrated need of our students. So far all of our students have been able to graduate completely debt-free.
A community of support
We live and study in a small, non-hierarchical community guided by Buddhist principles, where every student is given care and attention. Our premise is that the principles in the texts we read are not only meant to be studied; they are meant to be lived Every semester we stop classes for a full week to practice a specific contemplative exercise as a community.
